    Never Giving Up!

Torry worked for every second of this contest, competing for every ball, closing down defenders, chasing all opportunities, even lost causes, in the quest to record a fifth win from their last seven matches. They did so, at the death, with a glorious goal that fans will remember with pleasure for a long, long time.

Torry know now that they have exited the relegation places (only just), that their fate is in their own hands. The slip up at Silla last Sunday was consigned to history, as they plotted to resume winning ways against a well drilled and capable Torre Levante, who up until very recently were knocking on the play off door. Winning at home in front of devoted fans is important to the players and this showed in the effort and workrate of each and every player.

The first half featured a spectacularly well timed tackle from Calzado to deny Reyes a golden chance, but at the other end, Torry were working hard to find that key breakthrough. Borja Mir anticipated a back pass and sprinted purposefully after the ball, only the lightning quick reaction of Kilian in the visitor goal denying him a super opportunistic goal. Another slick Torry move finished with Molina scooping the ball wide of the target when the build up play deserved a winning finish.

The second half was even more tense as defences remained vigilant and unrelenting. Lewis was summoned to add more sparkle to Torry's attacks and immediatley he did just that, forcing his way down the right flank and worrying the opposition greatly. He slotted into midfield and did his fair share of graft, picking up a caution for a meaningful tackle, this time on the other side of the park closer to his own goal. With his pace and purpose, Torry began to be the more incisive. Molina did not get enough on a lovely Vicente cross and then a superb through ball by Lewis saw Borja Mir's shot saved by the foot of Kilian. Torry were pressing powerfully, knowing that three points were important to ensure they stayed out of the relegation quartet.

As the game entered into time added on Pastor chased a crossfield ball down the right. He did his trademark cut back and immediately realised that Lewis had advanced with him. He slid the ball into the path of Lewis who needed no other invitation, pulling the trigger and firing the ball high into the net to the delight of fans, as well as his team mates who smothered him with congratulation and affection. It was an exquisite strike, from a player who always gives 100% and it won three extremely valuable points. This was all the more vital as Bunol also won 1-0 and stay locked level with Torry, both now on 32 points.

Almazora lost at Muro and they are the next visitors to the Nelson Mandela on Thursday 13 April which will feature a 5.30 kick off. Presently Almazora are 2 points ahead of Torry, so another home win could be very telling. Before that though, Torry travel to Elche to play Ilicitano, excellent winners at Alzira on Sunday and in top form. However, with five wins from their last seven outings, few teams can boast the form of Torry and this local battle should be a thrilling encounter. The clash in November ended all square at 1-1, Pastor equalising midway through the first period, so this one again will be tight, but tantalising!
