                                                             No Cutting Edge
It was wet and it was miserable, and the weather was just as bad! On the back on a creditable 2-2 draw in Almazora, Torry were expected to return to winning ways at home against a decidedly average Recambios Colon. But this match highlighted the continued weakness of the team without Pastor, who missed it through injury - Torry have little by way of a cutting edge when it comes to scoring goals.
If fit, Pastor will play his final game against his former club Almoradi at their ground on 21 December, then depart early in the New Year to take up employment in Brisbane and play his football for Wolves in the Brisbane Capital League 1. The Carmichael Park gain will be the Nelson Mandela loss. Already after only a handful of appearances he is Torry´s joint top scorer and the manager and his technical team must be wondering just where the goals will come from once he goes.
Manager Pedreno completed his four match ban in the stand, but his frustration continues, as despite some intricate and delightful slick passing, shots on goal in this contest were few and far between. But there were a number of positives to take from this match. Debutant Ivan Pecha formed a solid central defensive partnership with Calzado and the clean sheet will have pleased - only Torry´s 3rd in 17 outings. Pecha has a touch of class and will also be a threat todefences from Torry set pieces. Buba once more showed that he is a top class shot stopper, though some of his outfield decisions do worry. Vicente and Luis Carlos are terrific full backs with immense attacking flair. After that, it all goes a bit wishy washy. Midfield lacks power and authority and dribbling and taking opponents on seems beyond the scope of those on show.
Robles entered as a sub and showed he has pace and the capability to get to the byeline, but belied belief when heading back across goal a ball he should have buried in the net when only seven yards from the target. Only once was Coronado in the Colon goal asked to exert himself, which he did successfully. This lack of firepower will make it difficult for Torry to be anything other than midfield strugglers. Hugo is out for another two weeks and can Pastor be fit for the midday kick off in Crevillente on Thursday? Fans will be praying he is back in contention for Sunday´s home match at the Nelson Mandela against Paterna, which kicks off at 5pm.
Team: Buba, Vicente Boix, Luis Carlos, Pecha, Calzado, Martín (Buza 76’), Matheus, Booker (Robles 59’), Lewis, Carrasco & Damián (David Soto 83’)
