Another stonking Display

It may seem strange to heap praise on a side that has won just one point from seven matches, but it is truly deserved. Bottom of the table Torry took on 2nd placed Ontinyent and only a vicious last second swerve on the ball denied them a hard earned point.
Torry conceded a free kick just outside their box and it was taken short before being driven hard on goal.  Buba had it covered, but then at the last moment the ball took an astonishing swerve left to give him no chance to keep it out. Just minutes earlier, the Guinean goalie had denied the hosts from the penalty spot, diving to his right to punch the ball clear. It was a soft penalty, the referee waiting a full seven seconds after the fall of the player before pointing to the spot. A cynic would say his mind was made up by the crowd crying out for the award!
Torry are rebuilding their team after a disastrous start to this campaign. The new management are transforming the squad into a competitive and resolute squad. Martin will return to action at the heart of the defence for the Castellon game, but for this contest, Torry relied upon Juanmi and Carrasco as their central defence coupling.
Both lads were playing out of position, but both excelled and never put a foot wrong the whole match, using their football talent to limit the hosts to a handful of half chances. Ontinyent has now won six of their seven games and are clearly genuine promotion candidates. In fact, although Torry´s start is deplorable, it should be noted that their  defeats have come against sides that presently occupy the positions in the top part of the league table.
Given that the improvement in the side is evident, it is apparent that wins will arrive soon. The squad is now beginning to realise just what they can do and players are showing a confidence and belief that augurs well for the future. There is more cohesion to moves and Torry are now exposing sides when they attack, which they are doing with more creativity and purpose. This Sunday Torry tackle Castellon at the Nelson Mandella with a 6pm kick off where fans will once more notice the development and progress of the side.
Ontinyent did deserve to win this match, given their dominant possession. However, it was pleasing that Torry kept them to a modest number of half chances and even more satisfying to note the pressure that Torry applied in seeking an equaliser following the baffling movement of the ball that won the hosts the game and the three points. Once more Buba was exceptional and he deserved a clean sheet. Lewis was made captain and responded with a leadership performance, full of desire, committment and tenacity. However, he was anchored in front of the back four for much of the game, the side losing out on his instinctive goal menace. Expect his return to leading the line v Castellon.
The manager was bitterly disappointed to come away with nothing from this tie, having utilised his resources perfectly and engendered a blistering performance from all concerned. Once he has his final personnel in place, then the excitment will really begin. Nothing short of three points is expected against Castellon on Sunday.
