MATCH REPORT | CD Torrevieja 1 UD Rayo Ibense 2. Enough is Enough!

                                                                Enough is Enough!
With no points from the opening five fixtures CD Torrevieja has surely hit rock bottom. The team is simply not firing and there is a beleagured and pedestrian aura to much of their play. It seems that other sides are more tenacious, more spirited and more eager to win. That must now be remedied, with just one match left before October it is alreading looking like a relegation battle - even this early in the campaign.
It seemed as though finally the team might put in a winning display when after only six minutes Lewis placed his 20 yard free kick to perfection, over the wall and into the top left hand corner of the net. It was one of only a few chances that Torry created, resuming bad habits of indiscriminate passing. slow build up play and little midfield creativity. Once more the talent that is Damian Aguero sat wasted on the bench for the entirity of the contest.
Rayo hit back within five minutes of conceding when Vendrell found himself unmarked a mere five yards from goal and deftly headed past Marcano. Torry tried to get back into their stride but lacked that incisive edge to their play. Rayo kept things tight at the back and Torry were winning few balls in the air. The half ended tamely but the second half started with all sorts of mayhem. Virtually from the kick off - 12 seconds to be precise - Javo was this time the unmarked Rayo attacker who received the ball and chipped Marcano for a well taken winner. However, he was demonstrably offside, with the linesman confounding fans by failing to raise his flag. Protests ensued but the goal stood and then in an inanimate show of disgust, the watering system erupted to drench fans as well as the playing surface, holding up play for another few minutes.
The extra slick surface did not enhance the chances of Torry for whom only Lewis looked likely to save them. He competed with passion, urgency and desire whilst several around him were a yard short in both body and mind. No clear cut chances were created and Torry and their fans went home miserable, bottom of the table and only Bunol for company on zero points. One fan even suggested the return of Corcoles, but he may have been mentally ill!
It is make or break time for the team who need inspiration if they are to resume control of their destiny. If it has been hard up to now, it is going to get even harder from here on in.
