 Sting in the Tail!

This match was full of passion and turned into a five goal thriller, with cracking good goals from both sides. Totty triumphed by 3-2 , Matheus, Lewis and Zapata all netting from the left hand side and finding the far corner of the net. Lewis also ripped the net apart with his thunderous left foot half volley. But the sting in the tail was the affirmation that Matheus who scored the opener, should have been ineligible, having been disciplined with a aone match ban fromm his final game last season with his previous club!
Matheus seemed personally unaware of it. Torry will lose the three points, which will be awarded to Almoradi. This was tough on the Salineros who dominated the game for long periods and created glorious chances. All three strikers - Matheus, Lewis and Zapata scored and each of them was sharp, committed and eager to show their worth. Instead of travelling to Villareal on Sunday as one of the leaders, Torry will now make the long haul as the bottom club!
As painful as this is, it is consigned to the past, as this new look Torry outfit is bursting with attacking flair and eager intent. Scoring goals was a major headache last term, so it was pleasing to record three in this tense derby clash. Almoradi played their part with former Torry favourite Obele heading home to bring them back into the game at 2-1 and Poveda heading in another with two minutes left on the clock. That made it 3-2 and created a swashbuckling finale.
Torry created many chances but it was not until the 73rd minute that the "illegal" Matheus claimed the ball inside the box on the left side and rifled it home, with Lewis keeping a watchful eye in case it might miss the mark. Two minutes later it was "Livewire Lewis" who nearly ripped the back of the net apart with a left foot half volley that screamed into the net. The final Torry goal was netted by main striker Zapata, whose workrate is second to none. He made no mistake when his opportunity arose. What a pity it all amounted to nil points!
Torry's defence was breached by two well taken headers, but despite the quality of these goals, manager Correa will be alarmed as to why his defenders did not get closer to the scorers. It is something that needs urgent attention. It could be a real test if the team needs to score three goals every week to win a match! Nonetheless, fans left the ground delighted at what they had seen - if only to feel the pain come Monday morning with the ineligible player fiasco. But this game was hugely entertaining, littered with excellent performances and complete with strong, combative play. It augurs very well for the season ahead.
