    So much talent

Despite not training for the last two weeks, this proved no more than a stroll in the park for Torry. The team is choc full of talent, but sadly out of sorts due to their lack of wages this year. Nonetheless, they outplayed Recambios Colon, who were desperate for points, sitting just outside the relagtion places.
When the whistle blew to start the game, it was Torry to kick off. Instead of doing so, all eleven players sat down for a full minute to communicate their plight at not being paid. Fans applauded them, but despite the dramatics, it did not put cash in the coffers. The start of the game was pedestrian, the lethargy of the opening minute seemingly transferring to the visitors who looked equally one paced.
It all changed with an exquisite strike from just outside the box from the mercurial Ruben Sanchez. His left foot drive was placed to perfection and the ball seared into the top corner of the net. Torry were well on top, even if their play from the back lacked imagination and purpose for much of the time. Luis Carlos won the ball from his opponent close to the halfway line, then accelerated forward leaving his would be markers in his wake. He lifted his head up and saw the Recambios keeper off his line and chipped a sweet shot flush against the crossbar. The keeper managed to smack the rebound clear just before it could be slotted home.
Lewis was working his socks off as usual, chasing down defenders and making intelligent runs into the channels to worry the visitors. He fetched a loose ball down the right hand side and showed expert technical ability in squeezing it home from a very acute angle, providing Torry with a two goal advantage at the interval. It had been rather easy for Torry, who were demonstrating great superiority but also illustrating the fact they they really should have been play off candidates this summer. The financial irony is that would that have been the case, then the gate receipts from such play off matches would have covered all the outstanding monies owed.
Higon stepped up his performance in the second period and got his just rewards with a third Torry goal after his persistence paid off. Recambios Colon were battling harder this half and pulled one back after Torry failed to clear a cross into the goal area. It was no more than a consolation as Torry carved out several more terrific chances but Prieto, Lewis and Chupe all failed to deliver the final killer blow. Recambios pressed forward with purpose also and they too wasted several first rate opportunities. Lucily for them they were one of the seven bottom teams who all lost at the weekend.
The top four all won and with Saguntino champions, it looks as though Elche Ilicitano, Castellon and Ontinyent will join them in the promotion play off matches. Who will join Acero in the Preferente next term is not yet cut and dried, but Benigamin look most likely with Jove Espanol next favourites to join those two. Jove will be Torry's final match visitors of the season on 8 May, but before that the team head to Ibi to play new boys Rayo Ibense.
