                                    Cold Reality!

As the temerature dropped noticeably, the cold harsh reality of a relegation dog fight loomed large over CD Torrevieja after this defeat at home by Paterna. It only took a single goal, a quite magnificent strike from David Gil in the 43rd minute to decide the outcome.
Torry tried for all they were worth, created chance after chance, but were unable to find the back of the net. That deficiency is costing them dearly, as they sit just one point above Jove outside the bottom three. They may well fall in there before then, but their final game of 2015 at Jove may prove the Christmas present nobody wants.
Former Paterna player Higón made his home debut and was the most robust and likely scorer for Torry. His aggressive runs down both flanks created constant worry for Paterna but invariably there was no one in the centre looking to exploit his industry. Once more Suarez dominated the midfield and he had two 35 yard free kicks which were explosive, but Nacho in the visitor goal produced great saves.
Torry fans scratched their heads as to how so many chances could go begging, whilst manager Pedreño exited the stadium a thoroughly frustrated individual. His team has played attractive football, he has secured talented and creative professionals, but he has been unable to help them locate the goal scoring touch to complete their build up play.
The game was preceded by a minute's silence in memory of Brian Phillips who died the day before. Brian was a long time Torry season ticket holder and former General Secretary of the Torry Army who shall be missed by his wife Pat and family, but also by his many   Torry friends.
The final whistle drew no consolation for a team now clearly embroiled in a battle to avoid the drop. They travel to Recambios Colon on Saturday in search of something, then after a break over the fiesta weekend, return to the Nelson Madela to host Rayo Ibense on Sunday 13th December with a 5pm kick off. That day will be Torry fans last opportunity to buy the Official Club Calendar which is on sale for 5 euros and the big Christmas lottery ticket for 23. Maybe that is where Torry's luck lies this year!
