Novelda Joy
It was a lapse in concentration that allowed the hosts to go in at the interval a goal to the good. Martin was penalised for a foul on the right wing just inside his own half and Javi Salero floated the ball over invitingly. Metej and Ricardo Cavas had been clearing everything up to this point with immaculate authority, but just when it mattered, it was the veteran Chupe who got first run and deftly headed home beyond the reach of Oscar.
Neither side had seized control of the game before this point, with Torry looking lively through the efforts of Lewis and the overlaps of Luis Carlos. But as soon as they scored, Novelda exuded confidence and began to threaten the Torry goal with added focus. Carrasco and Sanchez were working hard in the middle of the park, trying to unlock the Novelda defence, but finding it very tough.
The second half was barely four minutes old when another cross from the right saw Torry once more allow a header on target. This time Banegas got the nod and the hosts doubled their advantage. The rain made even more miserable viewing for the travelling Torry fans, who now thought the floodgates might open and see Novelda run up a big score. They added a third when Torry failed to clear in the box and Javi Salero rammed the ball home at the second time of asking. Two assists and a goal made for a joyous debut for the 27 year old who only signed for Novelda midweek.
Torry had no such playmaker, though Carrasco deserved credit for his hard graft throughout the afternoon. Small consolation was received when a Sanchez strike hit the heel of substitute Juanfran and was redirected into the other side of the goal. Metej rose best from a corner to head against the inside of the post but all in all it was another bad day at La Magdalena, where Torry's record now reads no wins from twelve attempts.
With a 5pm kick off on Sunday at home against Crevillente, it is time for a change of luck and a return to winning ways.
